Coloured lithograph, framed and glazed

Miller (Henry).       One of 200 numbered copies, signed by Linda Miller, the artist’s daughter    Fine condition  “Toubib”, French slang for doctor, may refer to his friendship with Louis-Ferdinand Céline, the novelist and physician or may more generally be a reference to healers of the soul. Miller created a Toubib series of watercolours, this one dating from September 1979, no doubt thinking of his time in Paris in the 1930s, produced during his last creative burst of energy in the late 1970s in California. There are surrealist influences and symbols in the picture allude to dream states and his insomnia. These prints offer suffer from fading but in this example the colours remain bright and vibrant.
