Stevenson (Robert Louis)  Illustrations by Peake Eyre & Spottiswoode,  1949 First Edition thus, Advance Proof Copy    Mottled green wrappers Wrappers with some browning at edges, spine browned, creased and chipped, glue stain between upper wrapper and half-title and fore-edge foxed, but a very good copy  This differs in many ways from the published edition including: the number of illustrations is given on the title-page as 43, presumably in error, there is no map nor a number of tailpieces, the title vignette is different as are some caption positions and the page numbers are not given in the contents pages apart from for Part I.
