Curiosities of LiteratureD’Israeli (Isaac). Frontispiece portrait to vol. I Edward Moxon, 1834 Ninth Edition, revised Six volumes Original cloth, gilt Spine and covers faded (some severely) and worn (torn at the lower cover of vol. iv) and corners and edges somewhat bruised, but internally a very nice copy; contemporary ownership inscription of “P.S. Horsman, Egremont, Cumberland” at head of title-page of each volume, later ownership signature and partially removed small library label to end-papers of some volumes On Bibliomania: “collecting an enormous heap of books without intelligent curiosity, has, since libraries have existed, infected weak minds, who imagine that they themselves acquire knowledge when they keep it on their shelves. ... It is fortunate that literature is in no ways injured by the follies of collectors, since though they preserve the worthless, they necessarily protect the good”. Price: £100 ![]() <<Back |
